How Much Does a Disney World Vacation Cost?

What does it cost for a family of four to go to Disney World while staying on property?  Spoiler, it isn't cheap!

Flights

In anticipation for this trip we ended up getting a Southwest Airlines credit card with a 80,000 mile point bonus. If we didn’t have points the tickets would have cost our family about $1,600 total from St. Louis to Orlando.

Hotel and Park Tickets

We decided to stay at Disney’s Pop Century resort. This property came highly recommended due to its location and kid-friendly set up. The total price for 5 nights at Pop Century and 3 days of park tickets for four people was $2,973.

Other Transportation

One of the best reasons to stay on-property at Disney is all of the transportation options. Transportation does not typically have an additional charge when staying on a Disney property. And since we didn’t have to rent a car while there our cost was relatively low at $52.

Food and Drink

The number of restaurant options are completely overwhelming at Disney. There are food choices everywhere. Inside the parks, at Disney Springs, and at hotels. In total we spent $1,101 on food and drinks.

Miscellaneous Costs

There were a few miscellaneous costs but not as many as I would have expected. In advance, we purchased magic bands ($40) and the memory maker ($160). We also spent about $35 at the arcade and about $100 on souvenirs.

Total Cost of Our Disney World Vacation

The grand total cost of our Disney World vacation was $4,506 ($6,106 if flights were included).
